Here I Am!
Kidspace is proud to host this unique artists workshop, developed and led by artists from Tierra del Sol.
Explore identity and place with Tierra del Sol artists Bill Marshall and Carissa Hackman as you add your silhouette over abstract or realistic scenes made with magazine clippings, colored pencils, and crayons.
Marshall and Hackman represent two of the eighteen Tierra del Sol artists in the Here I Am exhibition, also curated but Marshall. The works on view depict people in a range of environments—from everyday spaces to abstract universes—and showcase the energy exchanged between identity and place. In some works, personal identity is reflected in the environment; in others, aspects of place are transmitted through its inhabitants. This dialogue can be transformational, a source of power, and a vital aspect of being in the world. For some artists, the energy of place and identity flows directly into artmaking itself. As artist and curator Marshall explains, “I feel like I am abstract, and it connects me to my work.” In Here I Am, the connections between our identities and environments empower and enliven one another.
