Everybody Plays: Inclusive Games for Every Body
Everyone wins when every body gets to play.
Kidspace partnered with Angel City Sports to pilot a new inclusive games program, Everybody Plays, a joyful, movement-filled celebration designed to welcome kids of all abilities into the fun.
There were wheelchairs on the trike tracks, basketball hoops in the courtyard, adaptive bowling by the splash pads, and laughter everywhere when Kidspace and Angel City Sports launched their first inclusive sports collaboration last June. Each activity encouraged playful movement, collaboration, and confidence. Whether they were rolling, running, or cheering from the sidelines, there was a place for everybody to shine.
“Angel City Sports is a terrific partner because we share a belief that everyone should get to play,” said Kidspace CEO Lisa Clements. “They trained our staff to be ready for the big day, and they helped us create playful experiences that made wheelchairs high-value items for our guests, like the obstacle course on our trike tracks.”
This special day highlighted the power of inclusive play, offering kids and families a chance to connect, discover new skills, and experience the joy of trying something new in a supportive environment. Family members of all ages and abilities joined in the fun, and for many, it was the first time they experienced navigating the world in a wheelchair.
“These types of experiences create empathy and understanding for other people’s lived experiences, and that’s good for everyone,” said Clements.
Everybody Plays was only the beginning. Coming in March 2026, we are hosting the All-Abilities Basketball Bonanza, an inclusive wheelchair basketball clinic to kick of the March Madness season, in partnership with Angel City Sports and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Clements anticipates that similar family sports days will become a staple at the museum. “Our first inclusive sports initiative was a huge hit with Kidspace staff and visiting families, so we’re only getting started!” she said.
