Camp COVID-19 Safety

Kidspace camps have been designed to be safety-first and follow all Pasadena, county, state, and CDC guidance, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Campers are grouped in stable learning cohorts with the same staff assigned throughout camp.
  • Activities are designed to maintain social distancing.
  • Face coverings are required to be properly worn by all campers, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Handwashing will be readily accessible and planned into camp activities.
  • To protect the health of campers and staff, parents and guardians will not be allowed on campus. Pick up and drop off will take place outside of museum grounds.
  • Parents and guardians must consent to have their campers screened for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure prior to admission to campus. The screenings will include questions about health and exposure risk and touchless temperature checks each day of camp. Staff will undergo the same screenings.
  • Campers or staff who show symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent home.

Camp Refund Policy

  • Withdrawals or cancellations communicated in writing more than 30 days from a session’s start date will be refunded in full.
  • Withdrawals or cancellations between 15-30 days before a session’s start date is subject to a $100 administrative fee.
  • Withdrawals or cancellations within 14 days of a session’s start date are not eligible for a refund.
  • Refunds for medical cancellations may be available with documentation from a licensed medical professional, minus the $100 administrative fee.
  • Repeated failure to comply with Camper Expectations and Museum Code of Conduct may result in withdrawal from camp without refund.
  • Kidspace reserves the right to cancel camps due to safety concerns or insufficient enrollment. If Kidspace cancels a camp session, prorated refunds will be available, minus an administrative fee of $100.

Camper Code of Conduct

Our camp advocates a positive guidance and discipline policy. Camp rules are established for safety and to ensure we have a common standard of behavior. On the first day of camp, Kidspace counselors will discuss camp rules will all campers. There may be moments during the course of the camp where a camper may be asked to “take a break” to give themselves a moment to reset. Any issues of behavior will be discussed with parents or guardians at pick-up time. If there are consistent behavioral issues which become disruptive for the other campers, Kidspace reserves the right to send the camper home at no refund or credit for camp payment. Please review the following code of conduct with your camper so that we can ensure a safe, positive and fun environment for all campers:

  • Campers must be able to feed and toilet independently as well as self–monitor/manage their medical needs.
  • Campers must be able to keep hands to themselves. If your child has a history of aggressive, defiant, self-injurious behaviors, or has issues of elopement (wandering or running away) our 3.5 acre campus may not be a safe environment for them.
  • Children with behaviors that harm the child themselves, other campers, or the staff members may be required to be picked up from camp.
  • It is expected that campers participate in most activities whenever possible. Sitting out of activities consistently (non-participation) may require a phone call home to discuss whether our camp is a good fit.
  • Destruction of camp, museum, or others’ property by a camper will need to be paid for by the parent of the child.
  • Campers must be able to participate safely for themselves, their peers, and camp leadership. If your child runs away, will not move during transitions, will not stay with the group, and behaves in a harmful manner (towards self or others) parents may be asked to pick up their camper.
