Get TicketsOpening March 14 at Kidspace! An all-new art installation, Magic in the Air, invites you to immerse yourselve in a giant moving swarm of Monarch butterflies made of upcycled waste-stream materials. The kinetic sculpture was created by Christopher Lutter, working with museum visitors and volunteers. It was initially created for the Living in a Wildlife Corridor exhibition curated by Arroyos and Foothills Conservancy at Descanso Gardens and enjoyed by more than 40,000 visitors there. At Kidspace, it becomes a centerpiece of butterfly-themed experiences throughout the campus.
Christopher Lutter is a designer, sculptor, theater-maker, and community educator whose work revolves around the design, construction, and performance of puppets, masks, props, costumes, theatrical inventions, kinetic-sets, and sculptural installations. He produces his art predominately from waste-stream materials, exploring the unique potential in each component. His work places a deep emphasis upon eco-consciousness, collaboration, and improvisation.
